An Evening with Julie Lythcott-Haims, New York Times Best-Selling Author and former Dean of Freshmen at Stanford University
Thursday, January 24, 2019
7:00 PM – Program | 8:15 PM – Book Signing
Temple Beth El
7400 Telegraph Road
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48301
Join us as we welcome Julie Lythcott-Haims to Jewish Detroit for an important event about the dangers of over parenting. Julie will discuss her provocative manifesto that exposes the harms of helicopter parenting and sets forth an alternate philosophy for raising pre-teens and teens to self-sufficient young adulthood. Julie will share her own insights as a mother and as Stanford University’s Dean of Freshmen to highlight the ways in which overparenting harms children, their stressed-out parents, and society at large. While empathizing with the parental hopes and fears that lead to overhelping, Julie inspires audiences to examine their behaviors and join the growing movement to allow children to develop the resourcefulness, resilience and inner determination necessary for success.
This event is open to the community at no cost thanks to the generosity of the Susie and Norm Pappas Challenge Fund and the Zuckerman-Klein Family Foundation.
