SUMMARY:An Evening with Keith and Aviva Siegel: A Story of Survival\, Strength and Hope
DESCRIPTION:**UPDATE:** Due to the large response\, we have moved this event to **Adat\nShalom Synagogue**. \nOn October 7\, 2023\, Keith and Aviva Siegel were taken hostage from their home\non Kibbutz Kfar Aza during the brutal Hamas terrorist attack that shook Israel\nand the Jewish world. Now\, nearly two years later\, they are coming to Detroit\nto share their extraordinary story—one of pain\, perseverance\, and hope. \nAt this meaningful evening\, Keith and Aviva will recount their experience in\ncaptivity and the devastating moments that changed their lives forever. Aviva\nwill speak about her release and the tireless advocacy work she undertook—both\nfor Keith’s freedom and for the release of all hostages. Together\, they will\nreflect on their ongoing efforts to raise awareness and push for the safe\nreturn of those who are still being held today. \nDon’t miss this chance to stand in solidarity\, bear witness and be inspired by\ntheir strength and unwavering hope. \n**This program is free and open to the community.** \n**About the Speakers**\n**Keith Samuel Siegel** \, a U.S. citizen and longtime resident of Kibbutz Kfar\nAza\, was taken hostage by Hamas on October 7\, 2023\, along with his wife\,\nAviva\, during the devastating attack on their community. A devoted father and\ngrandfather known for his compassion and spirit of coexistence\, Keith was held\nin Gaza for 484 days under unimaginable conditions before being released as\npart of a ceasefire agreement. Following his return to Israel\, he underwent\nmedical treatment and rehabilitation to recover from the severe conditions he\nendured in captivity. While the emotional and physical aftermath of captivity\nhas been profound\, Keith remains committed to rebuilding his life and\ncontinues to speak out as an advocate for peace\, resilience and the safe\nreturn of those still hostage in Gaza.\n**Aviva Adrienne Siegel** is a beloved kindergarten teacher and devoted mother\nof four who has called Kibbutz Kfar Aza home for more than four decades.\nAviva\, along with her husband\, Keith\, were abducted from their home by Hamas\nterrorists and taken into Gaza\, where they endured harrowing conditions in\ncaptivity. Aviva was released on the third day of a temporary ceasefire\, and\nsince her return\, she has become a passionate and tireless advocate—not only\nfor Keith’s release\, but for every hostage still held in Gaza. Her voice has\nbecome a powerful force for truth\, courageously sharing the horrors she\nwitnessed and endured\, while continuing to fight for justice and the safe\nreturn of others. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/12286
