SUMMARY:Israel's Conscription Debate: A closer look at the public discourse stirring up Israel
DESCRIPTION:**Exciting Update:** We’re thrilled to welcome a special guest\, Rabbi\nYehoshua Pfeffer\, founder of the Iyun Institute to our next Coffee Talk event. \nJoin us for a compelling conversation as Rabbi Pfeffer takes us into the heart\nof a deeply complex and emotionally charged issue: Haredim service in the IDF.\nHe’ll unpack the background to the current recruitment political and social\npredicament\, the challenges faced by Haredi soldiers who chose to serve\, while\nexploring the broader national conversation around civic duty and sharing the\nburden.\nThis is a rare opportunity to hear from someone deeply immersed in both Torah\nscholarship and public policy. Expect nuance\, insight\, and a candid look at\none of Israel’s most pressing debates. We hope you’ll join us for this\nimportant discussion.\n**About Rabbi Pfeffer**\nYehoshua Pfeffer is Rabbi of “Ohr Chadash” in Ramot Bet\, Jerusalem. Alongside\nhis rabbinic role\, he heads the Iyun Institute\, which operates a range of\ngroundbreaking leadership programs and publications in the Haredi space\,\nfocusing on the crucial issue of broader Haredi responsibility for Israel. He\nis the founding editor of the “Tzarich Iyun” journal and is Chair of Netzach\nYehudah\, serving and supporting Haredi soldiers in the IDF. He is also a\nprofessor at Hebrew University’s law school\, having previously clerked at\nIsrael’s Supreme Court. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife and six of their\neight children. \n**Questions for our speaker?** Please include them when registering.\n**Questions about this event?** Contact Lior Zisser-Yogev at (248) 642-6892 or\nvia email listed below. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/12190 \nClick here to join the livestream. https://jfmd-org.zoom.us/j/85684870913?pwd=8nf9P2sr7dJ9yztbHodS3T7d9oM0aC.1
