As a Jewish\nIranian\, he has a unique perspective on the ongoing struggle for justice and\nrecognition in both Iran and Israel. Don’t miss this powerful evening and\nconversation about geopolitics\, history and human rights. \n$36 per person\, includes dinner and admission to The J’s Detroit Jewish Book\nFair program. \nSpouses welcome \n**About the Program:**\nIn 2022\, a twenty-two-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman was killed by Iran’s\nmorality police in Tehran for allegedly wearing her hijab too loosely\,\ntriggering nationwide outrage. Journalist Jonathan Harounoff\, Israel’s\ninternational spokesperson to the United Nations\, demystifies the context\nleading up to the “Woman\, Life\, Freedom” protests\, while paying tribute to the\npeople of Iran who have paid the ultimate price for freedom.\n**In conversation with Professor Howard Lupovitch\, Wayne State University**\n**Free and in-Person at The J. Book signing following talk.** \n**About the Author:  **Jonathan Harounoff is an acclaimed British-Iranian\njournalist now serving as Israel’s international spokesperson to the United\nNations. His writings and commentaries have appeared in several publications\,\nincluding The New York Post\, The Los Angeles Times\, Fox News\, Newsweek\, BBC\,\nHaaretz\, The Jerusalem Post\, The Jewish Chronicle and The Forward. He\npreviously served as director of communications at a D.C. think tank focused\non US security interests in the Middle East. He graduated from the\nUniversities of Cambridge and Columbia with degrees in journalism\, Arabic and\nPersian\, and is also an alumnus of Harvard University where he studied\ninternational relations and diplomacy.
