Ben-Gurion Society

What is the Ben-Gurion Society (BGS)?

The Ben-Gurion Society (BGS) recognizes young adults locally and nationally ages 21 to 45 who demonstrate community leadership and give a gift of $1,000 or more to their local Federation’s Annual Campaign. BGS was founded on the principles of David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel, who urged young men and women to channel their power, passion and resources to build a strong and responsible Jewish community.

Why join BGS?

Members of BGS not only make a tremendously positive impact in the lives of Jews in need all over the world but are also invited to exclusive BGS events and leadership opportunities throughout the year. Members have access to the BGS VIP Pre-Glow Reception at EPIC, our largest young adult fundraiser of the year, including a meet-and-greet with the event’s celebrity headliner. Members are also eligible for admission to exclusive BGS appreciation events, like the one held at the M-1 Concourse last spring and Federation’s Annual Major Gifts Event to name just a few.

How does a $1,000+ donation to the Jewish Federation impact the community?

Here are some examples:

  •  Provides help to the elderly in the community with ramps for homebound, disabled adults to use for essential outings and appointments
  • Establishes safe and secure environments for the children in our community to have a Jewish education
  • Affords emergency dental services for community members who would otherwise have no access
  • Funds a week of camp for a Tamarack camper in need of scholarship assistance
